U18 Match Report

V Beckenham FC U18 away League match 3rd October

Always a match eagerly awaited by players and coaching staff alike. A fine day for a trip down to Lower Sydenham.

Expectations were high after some decent results against Beckenham last season , although we were missing players still, we thought we still had the edge.

We are able to field 12 players , Max, OllyD still out, Ryan a late withdrawal and Fred and Henry's registrations not coming through fast enough. What a start, a poor start, 4 minutes in a pussy tackle and they were in 1-0. Everyone looked to have heavy legs. Josh Norman back as Centre back had to come off for the second half having carried a groin strain throughout the first half.. Adam and Dan look tired in midfield, normally first to everything, not today. Both full backs were not up for the challenge either , Beckenham were stronger 1 v1 and really up for the game. Manager Alan Duncan jumping up with unrivalled enthusiasm with their every chance. Still despite the lethargy in the team, we still looked the better side and went in 3-1 up at Half time. Job done you would have thought. Some dubious official decisions and although a very strong talking to at the start of the match on dissent, the ref decided not to action against one of Beckenham's midfield players. Typical, he remained on the pitch and scored, 3-2. We went again and scored 4-2. But sloppy decisions, poor passing, pussy tackles , 4-3 and in the last minutes 4-4. Mr Duncan and his team were overjoyed with a deserved draw. Bromleians U18 Utd were very disappointed with their performance, some new energy from our new registrations will hopefully give us the kick to move on and start playing as we know we can.
