This Saturday competitive football returns to Scrubs Farm as Old Bromleians host West Wickham in the annual season curtain raiser, the Robin Gonzalez Cup.
The Robin Gonzalez Cup is played every year between Old Bromleians and West Wickham to commemorate the life of Robin Gonzalez, a former England Amateur player who also played for both Old Bromleians and West Wickham. Robin was tragically killed by a carbon dioxide leak whilst sleeping. His England cap is displayed in the bar at Old Bromleians FC.
West Wickham play in Division 1 of the Southern Amateur league, finishing 6th in 2016/17 season and will no doubt be keen to exact revenge on Old Bromleians following last seasons 4-1 defeat in this fixture.
Old Bromleians experienced success across both first and second teams last season with the first team winning the Kent Division 2 West, and the second team winning promotion and also silverware in the Elizabeth Jacques Cup.
West Wickham will also be bringing their 2nd XI to play against the Old Bromleians 2nd XI, both games will be at Scrubs farm with the first XI game kicking off at 14:30 and the 2nd XI at 13:45.
The bar will be open all day so come along and enjoy what promises to be an excellent local derb
